Installations
Feeding Sites (Phase 3)
feedsack fabric, video, photogaphs, journal, jars, shells of nuts and seeds, chair, lights, wood
This site-specific piece was installed as a performance, remained on site for one month, during which time it was eaten primarily by squirrels. This process was photographed, drawn and written about in a journal, and the remnants were gathered, stored, and displayed in the resulting off-site installation.
In this project, a woman undertakes the consuming task of feeding squirrels, picking up the remains of their eating, and documenting the entire process. Her preoccupation with the squirrels is an extension of the powerful force to nurture others and mirrors the roles of many women.
